On the 1850 and 1860 census for Halifax County, Va. Staunton region, there is one male listed in the household of Matthew and Mary Tribble. This male person is quite possibly Samuel's father.

Roberta

1850-
Matthew Tribble - White 48 Born VA
Mary Tribble - 34 Born VA
George Tribble - 13
Mary A Tribble- 11
Eliza H tribble - 2

1860
Matthew Tribble - White 51
Mary Tribble - 44
George T Tribble 22
Mary A Tribble 21
Eliza H Tribble 11
Julia Tribble 9
Elizabeth Tribble 5
John W Tribble 1

In 1870 Matthew 65 and Mary 53 Tribble are still in Staunton with Eliza 21, Julia 19, Elizabeth 15 and Florence 1. No sign of George Tribble who would be about 33.

In 1880 Samuel is listed with grandmother Mary. Can't find George on this census either.
