Kimberly, I was rereading your response and have another question. You said that you found Thomas Crawley. I would like to have his marriage. Were there any other Cralle/Crawley marriages? I know that there were relatives in the county. I would like any Cralle/Cralley/Crawley marriages that you might find. Sorry, if I'm a pest but there has to be some records in Halifax county. I have this note from another researcher:
MARRIAGES OF HALIFAX CO, VA 1801-1831, M D Chiarito & J H Pendergast, 1895. Thomas Cralle & Elizabeth Chappell 25 Jul 1808, she signs own consent. Sur: Edwin Garlington; Wit Edwin Garlington, Sr & Joseph Garlington. Also listed in book above: Kinner Cralley (sic) & Elizabeth Chappell 15 Feb 1809. Sur: Thomas Cralle. Thomas Cralle, Sr, Guardian, signs consent. According to the Chappell book, Elizabeth Dickie Chappell had a daughter named Elizabeth. One of the Elizabeth Cralles (mother or daughter) seems to have married again 12 Jan 1826, by Rev Wm Murray, Jr.: Halifax Co Marriage Record 29 Nov 1825, Enoch Landrum & Elizabeth "Crawley", Sur: John L. Cralle. Have not yet found record of will for Kenner Cralle so do not know when he died or if this Elizabeth was his wife or his step-mother.
Do you have this record in your book?
Thanks so much for offering to help.
