Please help, if you can, to identify the birthplace of William Henry Brodnax, a Virginia militia commander and legislator b. ca 1786 or 1791, who died 23 Oct 1834 in Dinwiddie County, VA. Some say Greensville County or Brunswick County, while others say he was born in Dinwiddie County at "Kingston", a Georgian house still standng in the 1930s when early buildings were photographed for the Virginia Historical Inventory. (The entire Virginia Historical Inventory can be accessed at the Library of Virginia site --
-- fascinating photos)

I also wonder about his birthdate. We know the full birthdates of his wife, Ann Eliza (or Elizabeth) Withers (b. 4 Dec 1795) and his father, William Brodnax (b. 3 Mar 1762 ), but most of the information on Wm. Henry just says "1786". One person gave 4 Mar 1791, 5 years later, but didn't say where he found this date. Another gave 1788, again without info source -- frustrating!

If you have answers, can you please include the sources of your information? I'm working on a family history and need to be careful about accuracy.

Thanks for any enlightenment --
