COUNTY CLERK RESIGNS

Mr. E. L. Turner, of Greensville, Succeeded by His Sons

EMPORIA, VA., Jan. 13.--Special—Mr. E. L. Turner, who has been clerk of the courts of Greensville for nearly thirty years, has tendered his resignation as such to Judge W. S. Goodwyn, who has appointed his son, Mr. E. P. Turner, to fill the unexpired .term.

Mr. Turner has been in feeble health for the last four months, and, the past week his symptoms are not encouraging.

Mr. E. P. Turner, .who received the appointment, is a young man of good business qualifications, and will make a worthy successor to his father.

The appointment gives much satisfaction.
