Jeff Weaver, Grayson County Notes -Help!

Mr. Weaver,
I discovered this under your heading of 8th Va. Cav on the "New River Notes" Civil War site. What does it mean? Co. B, 4th Res., Grayson Co.. Is this another Co. of Grayson Co. residents, besides Co.C? If so, what was their role in the Civil War? Where could I find a roster of men who served in this unit? Thank you for your time

>>>
The 8th VA Cav. is the 8th Virginia Cavalry Regiment.
Company B, 4th Virginia Reserves was another unit.

There were men from Grayson County who served in the following units:

Company F, 4th VA Infantry
Company C, 45th VA Infantry
Company D, 50th VA Infantry
Company I and K, 51st VA Infantry
Company C and G, 63rd VA Infantry
Company C, 8th VA Cavalry
COmpany I and K, 21st VA Cavalry
Company B, 4th VA Reserves

In addition there were several Grayson Co. boys in North CArolina units.

If you explore New RIver Notes, there is a complete (or as complete as I could make it) listing of men from Grayson County in the Civil War. It has a list of abbreviations and what they mean as well.
