Henry Thomas Burnett of Carroll/Grayson

I am looking for the ancestry of my grandfather, Henry Thomas Burnett. He lived the last part of his life in Carroll County, in the Piper's Gap area. Previous to this, he lived in Grayson County. He was married to Cora Lue Fields. He worked at BC Vaughn's in Galax. He died around 1957 of cancer. Birthplace and birthdate are unknown.

I have been told the following:
Henry Thomas Burnett's Father was Michael Jeffrey Burnett, and his mother was Hattie Fitzgerald Thornhill Burnett. (This was her second marriage.) They lived in Wythe County. When Jeff died, Hattie and her five children reportedly walked from Wythe County to Fries, and Hattie worked in the cotton mill. His brothers and sisters included James, William, Mary, Elizabeth and/or Nan and/or "Tootie". Hattie's father is reported to be William Fitzgerald, and her mother is "Caroline", of Indian descent.

If this sounds familiar to anyone, please contact me. I have a HUGE brick wall going on, here.

Thank you.

Mary.
