Dear Ms. Lester,

I don't know if my grandmother, Dollie CORNETT, is related to your Grandmother, Winnie Lou CORNETT, or not, but she married my grandfather, Lee Peyton Hilliard Stamper, and they lived in Comer's Rock, VA. My grandfather was minister of the First Baptist Church there.

As Cornett was a common local name, maybe your grandmother and my grandmother were related, as they were from the same general area.

Her father's name was Rufus CORNETT, and I think he was either fron N.C. or VA. I hope this helps some. I know there were apparently a lot of Stampers and CORNETTs in the Grayson Co., Ashe co. areas. I do know there are still a lot of Stamper's in VA and MD. I'm doing a county search now.

Were your Cornett's of Danish descent?

Maybe this information will tie-in to both our searches. Any information you have would be appreciated. Good Luck in your ssearch.

Gary
