Ross Brown

Your ggg grandfather Richard M. Brown and my ggg grandfather Lorenzo D. Brown may be brothers. Family records state that Lorenzo's father was Jesse Brown b: abt 1780 VA. Family records indicate that Jesse's wife was Ellie - no last name. I found Jessee and Ellinor (possible 2nd wife??) in Wythe County in the 1850 census with a son named James b: abt 1828. Jesse may have had a wife named Sally Richardson (marriage license in 1806 in Grayson County). a Family tree in lists Jessee along with Sally Richardson and 3 children: Lorenzo Dowd Brown; Richard M. Brown and James Brown. In 1850 census, I found Richard M (28)and Rebecca (24) married and living in District 60, Smyth County, VA. James (22) was still at home with Jesse and Ellinor according to the 1850 Wythe County census. Death record for Elenor Brown shows she passed away 31 Aug 1856 in Wythe County, VA. Looks as though Jessie was still living. Lorenzo married Joanna Vernon in 1838 in Independence, Grayson County, VA. Where are the other 6 children that show up in 1820, 1830 and 1840 census records???

Still needs sorting out - Is my Jesse Brown and the Jesse you are searching one and the same? I believe from Wythe County came Grayson, Carroll and Smyth Counties.
