John Worrell, who married Olive Jones, was a son of Esau Worrell and Nancy Bobbitt. John had a brother, William who was b. 08 Mar 1800 and married Patsy Wilson. They had 12 children, but I don't know what happened to William.

Here are Esau's other children;

best regards,
Ron Hall

Descendants of Esau Worrell

Generation No. 1

1. ESAU5 WORRELL (JAMES4, PETER3, PETER2, PETER1)1 was born 01 May 1760 in Probably Chester Co., PA, and died 06 Dec 1838 in Grayson County, VA1. He married NANCY BOBBITT1 Abt. 20 Aug 1793 in Grayson County, VA1, daughter of WILLIAM BOBBITT and NANCY MCKENZIE. She was born 1777 in Grayson County, VA1, and died 1873 in Carroll County, VA1.

Notes for ESAU WORRELL:

Lived east of Hillsville

More About ESAU WORRELL:

Burial: Worrell - Edwards Cemetery, Carroll County, VA

Notes for NANCY BOBBITT:

Never remarried after Esau's death. She was living alone at age 77 during the 1850 Carroll Census. Living with her grandson, Sebert at age 96 in 1870.

Children of ESAU WORRELL and NANCY BOBBITT are:

i. FLOURNEY6 WORRELL, b. Grayson County, VA; m. SUSAN E. QUESENBERRY, 27 Aug 1881, Carroll County, VA.

ii. LEGRAND WORRELL, b. Grayson County, VA.

Notes for LEGRAND WORRELL:

died in infancy

iii. LOTTIE WORRELL, b. Grayson County, VA.

Notes for LOTTIE WORRELL:

died in infancy

iv. PETER E. WORRELL1,2, b. 24 Jun 1796, Grayson County, VA3; d. 30 Sep 1871, Carroll County, VA.3; m. MARTHA JANE HALL3,4, 28 Mar 1826, Grayson County, VA5; b. Abt. 1804, Halifax County, VA5; d. 03 Jul 1878, Carroll County, VA.5.

Notes for PETER E. WORRELL:

He acquired a 360 acre farm on which the SW VA Training Center is now located.

Notes for MARTHA JANE HALL:

Martha was born around 1804 probably in Halifax County, VA., the eldest child of Thomas and Ann. She would have been about 20 when her family moved to Grayson/Carroll.

She married Peter Worrell (born 27 June 1796) on 28 March 1826 in Grayson Co.,, VA. He was the son of Esau Worrell and Nancy Bobbitt. The marriage bond (1826-11) was posted by William McClure. Due to Peter's age, I suspect this may have been a second marriage for him although I have found no record of it.

The 1850 census shows Peter, age 54 and Martha, age 43. She was listed in the census of 1870 at age 66 which would have put her birth year at 1804. However, there is an uncertainty about her birth date as the census of 1850 would put her birth at 1807.

Peter owned a 360 acre farm where the Southwest Virginia Training Center is now located. According to the Carroll Death Record, he died of old age on 30 September 1871 at age 85 years, 3 months, 6 days. This places his birth date at 27 June 1786, though I believe the age to be overstated. I believe he was 75. Martha was still alive at that time, as she is listed as the informant.

The death records show Martha Worrell, consort of Peter Worrell, dying of dropsy on 03 July 1878 at age 74. However, the records list her parents incorrectly as Peter and Fannie Worrell and her birthplace was Halifax County, VA.
