There is a wonderful book on the Dejarnette family (also Peatross, Lee, Butler, Chiles, Terrell, Hampton, Campbell, Hurt, Bell, Ellyson, Fleming, etc.)written by Virginia Lee Hutcheson Davis called: TIDEWATERVIRGINIA FAMILIES - A Social History printed in 1989.
It was published by her and the address is: Virginia Lee hutcheson Davis, PO Box 876, Urbanna, VA 23175. It is 2 and 1.4 inches thick and well worth the money; very well written and documented describing their lives in that time.
