Can anyone tell me if the Cary/Carey family of Gloucester County, Virginia owned any Slaves. I am trying to find a relative of mine and I do not know where he came from. I found him listed on a 1870 United States Federal Census born about 1798, on the Census he was 72 years old, lived in Greenway, Clarke, Virginia.

Members of his household were
Margeret A. Cary born about 1838 32 yrs old
Bushrad/Bushrod born about 1843 27 yrs old
Marshall born about 1861 9 years old
Alice born about 1864 6 years old
Granville born about 1868 2 yrs old
