I went to that church as a child with my grandmother, Iona Tempest Vaught Meredith. Services were held on Saturday night & we walked from the top of the mountain above the church. Usually someone with a car would give us a ride back after dark, but not always. Grandma carried a flashlight with her just in case. Kyle Montague Akers preached there back then. He was my great uncle on my mother's side of the family. Later on, his son-in-law, Ellis Daniel Meredith, preached there. He is my father's brother. I remember some of the people who went to church there. This would have been in the 60's and early 70's. Mrs. Lyda McCoy and a Mrs. Morris always came to services together. Cars parked on the side of the road & folks walked accross the bridge to get to the church. There may have been ten or so people at each service.
