What little information that I have is that was written in a book by William Sanders, A New River Heritage, ' Charles Y. Thompson, came to the Elgood area from Poplar Hill in Giles County, where he was owned as a slave by the Adair family, Enroute, he remained a period of time at Lurich on the New River, which was the site of the Adair family ferry and Adair Inn and plantation of old. He was a blacksmith by trade.'

I have not fond anything of Charles except that he was born around 1819. He and his wife Matilda had 2 children that I can find, Charles Jr and Sarah Ann. I am from Sarah's line. I'm trying to find who owned Charles first, since he had the surname of Thompson and not Adair. He and Matilda are not in the 1870 census.

I saw the information that you had posted. I guess I'm looking for the Adair that settled in Lurich.
