Pam, I noticed you have posted in 2011 so I hope you are still around. I have the photo of the plaque and my ancestor, Jacob Straley, is on it. I was wondering if you know how I can get some further proof of his service. The only thing I have found is "History of Middle New River Settlements" which is a recent history. I´m trying to prove his service for DAR purposes and they are quite picky when it comes to proof. Jacob is Matthew French´s son-in-law. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
