Elihu Wilburn

I am researching my Wilburn Family Tree, and am trying to confirm the parentage of Elihu(Elihue) Wilburn b. 1842. I have him listed on the 1850 Hancock County Tennessee Census, but our oral family history says he was originally from Wilburn Valley, Virginia. He is the son of Clayborn or James or Stephen Wilburn. All are sons of Morning Walling (Wallen?) b. 1784 and Stephen Wilburn b.1766, son of Richard Wilburn b. 1717. Any help would be appreciated. I am at a loss as to how to find the answer. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer!
