Looking for information on the Caleb Mercer family. I found Caleb Mercer in the 1820 & 1830 Winchester, Frederick Co., VA census. According to the census he had at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He would have been born between 1784-1804. The 2nd son was named James A. Mercer. He left Frederick Co., VA and arrived in Washington Co., OH in 1841. I would like any information on the names of the other children and wife's name, marriage, etc. James A. Mercer was written about in the History of Washington Co., OH book. Here is what it writes:
"James A. Mercer, second child of Caleb Mercer, was born in Frederick county, Virginia, June 7, 1819. In 1841 he moved to Monroe county and remained there four years. He lived in Lawrence and Newport townships until 1857, when he settled in Warren township. September 3, 1841, he was married to Tabitha Cecil, who was born February 28, 1826, in Harrison county, Ohio. The fruit of this marriage was ten children, nine boys and one girl. Eight are still living—four married and four single. Mr. Mercer worked at backsmithing for thirty years before coming to Warren township."
This is where I got the info that Caleb Mercer was the father of James Mercer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
