OBITUARY: THE NEW ERA Formoso, Jewell Co Kansas, Thursday, 15 Feb 1917

Isaiah Ferdinand Dunn was born in Franklin County, Virginia on February 15, 1851 and died in Formoso, Kansas, February 12, 1917 aged 65 years, 11 months, and 28 days. He was united in marriage to Emily Spaulding April 4th, 1873 in Scioto county, Ohio. To them eleven children were born, nine of whom are now living and are as follows: Wilburn, Lee, Ida Bell, Charles C., Leander C., Nora Clark, Minnie Stafford, Fred and John. Brother Dunn was converted and united with the Baptist Church when he was 21 years old. He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Formoso, Kansas June 5, 1910 and was a faithful member till his death.
The family moved from Ohio to Dawson, Richardson county, Nebraska, October 23, 1885, and came to Jewell county, March 1st, 1905 and settled on a farm north of Formoso. Mr. Dunn leaves a wife and the children, named above, and a brother John F. of Huntington, West Virginia. A good man has gone to his rest and we shall miss him. The funeral sermon was preached by his pastor, Dr. W. J. Meridith, of the M.E. Church of Formoso, and a large concourse of friends witnessed the last sad rites, where the body was laid to rest in the Caldwell Cemetery. The six sons were the pallbearers and with tender hands they bore their fathers body to the tomb.
We wish to thank the friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness during the illness and death of our dear husband and father. Words are inadequate to express our great appreciation of sympathy extended to us in this hour of sorrow.
