John Henry Phillips was an eighth generation descendant of William Tobias Phillips and Alice (Elsie) B Henson. He was born in Floyd County, Virginia in 1867. He was married in Carroll Country, Va. in l888 to Millie"Jane" Phillips. Millie passed away on Oct. 20, 1957. John Henry passed away four months later on Feb. 19, l958. They raised a large family of nine children: Lilli "Versie" Phillips born l890, Floyd, Rollie W. Phillips, born l892, Carroll County, Eli E. Phillips, born l894, Glen E. Phillips, born in Floyd county in 1897. He was married to Ruby Criner, a daughter of Clarence and Ruth Showalter Criner. They had at least one son, Lawrence Phillips, that died and was buried in Ohio. Glen E. Phillips, age 26, died in Dec. 1923. He was a veteran of World War 1 (Pvt. l55th Depot Brig.) Ruby was remarried to a Dagonhart. Allie Mattie Phillips was born on June 2, l901., Dewey Phillips was born July 31, l902,Etta Virginia Phillips born l905, Velma America Phlllips, born l908 and John "Brady" Phillips born l911. This information was taken from a book compiled by Elza B Cox. If this information is of any use to you I can probably trace further back or forward.
