From the "Supplement to the Floyd Press, April, 5th, 1917"

JOHN PRICE DEAD.
John Price was born on Smith’s river, 1849, and died Jan. 5th 1917, making his stay on earth 69 years, three months and five days. He was sick but a short time with brights disease.
He was the father of eleven children, grand father of 62 children, and great grand father of twelve children. He was a highly esteemed old gentleman.
We hated to give him up but it was the will of the Lord to take him from us. All that doctor and loving hands could do was done for him, so let’s not grieve after him but trust that he’s gone to rest and we hope to meet him.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Martin, after which the body was laid to rest in the cold and silent tomb.

How often we have looked for him,
When he would go away;
But now to know that he is gone,
Forever more to stay.

Tis hard to break the tender cord,
When love has bound the heart;
Tis hard, oh so hard to speak the word,
We must forever part.

Farewell, dear father, farewell,
On earth we’ll meet no more;
But in heaven we hope to meet you,
Where parting is no more.

Soon this mortal body shall die,
Then bidding all sorrow farewell,
I’ll soon soar to that home on high,
Where free from afflictions I’ll dwell.

Written by his wife,
Millie Price.
