SPANAWAY, Wash.-Earl B. Akers Sr., died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002.
He was born Feb. 26, 1937, in Waterville, Wash., the son of James B. and Mabel L. Akers.
He married Shirley Garten in 1958, they later divorced.
Mr. Akers served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 with the rank of master sergeant.
Survivors include his wife, Bettye Fox of Tacoma, Wash; three daughters, Melanie Herring of Abilene, Kan.,Kay Lynn Akers of Oceanside, Calif., and Teresa Ketner of Tacoma, Wash.; one son, Earl B. Akers Jr. of Salina, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Loretta Avarillo and Rhonda Beckham of Fort Worth, Texas; four brothers; one sister; and nine grandchildren.
Graveside services were today, Sept. 10, 2002, at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash., with military honors.
Fir Lane Memorial Park Funeral Home, 924 East 176th Street, Spanaway, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.
