Jacob Carroll born January 1850, wife Mary Duncan

I am trying to find the parents of Jacob Carroll and the parents of his wife Mary Duncan. According to the 1900 U.S. Census of Floyd County, Virginia, he and his wife Mary and 4 of their children were living in the Indian Valley Magisterial District. The record indicates that Jacob was born in January 1850, and Mary in February 1867. Their oldest child, Clydia, was almost 11 years old, Idie was 8, Harvy was 5, and Posie was an 11 month old baby.

Jacob might have been born in North Carolina. I don't remember which family member told me that his father's name MIGHT have been John Carroll. His mother's first name MIGHT have been Docia. Regarding Jacob's wife Mary Duncan, her middle name MIGHT have been Ann, and her mother's name MIGHT have been Nancy. If anyone has any information on either Jacob Carroll and his wife Mary Duncan, please respond. Thank you.
