seeking information on military of Captain Thomas West son of John West Jr. & Catherine Colville, married 1.Anne Payne d/o William Payne & Susanna Clark 2. Elizabeth Hamilton Children Nancy Ann m Martin, Catherine (Kitty) m Turner & Thomas. He is always referred to as Captain of ship "Cameron" in The Papers of George Mason, 1725-1792 Vol I cviii. Can anybody tell me if he A.was in Continental Navy B.participated in Patriotic service C. was a Priviteer D.fought for Loyalist. DAR index has a John West Jr. whose birth dates match, Ancestor #A123175 but says future applicates must prove service.
