Cockrell/ Cockrill/Cottrell DNA project needs Fairfax County, VA DNA

There is presently a DNA surname project being conducted on the Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) website for the Cockrell surname. We have some NC, KY and TN DNA submitters. We have some Davis family members from VA, who appear to have Cockrell DNA. But we don't have much Cockrell DNA from families where were in VA prior to the Revolutionary War. Many of these Cockrell lines might have sprung from the John, Andrew, and Thomas Cockrells who settled in Northumberland County, VA in the 1650-1656 time frame. Their family appears to have spread out into Fairfax County and Alexandria City, and still appear numerous there as late as the 1930 U.S. Census. Could we get 3-5 Cockrell males still living in Fairfax County today to do a 67 marker test on FTDNA at your own cost? It would help us greatly and may enable you to trace your own line further back in VA and in England. Thank you for considering this. This project is administered with the confidentiality standards that are spelled out on the FTDNA website. Mike Clark. Mikeandmaeclark@aol.com
