I am researching the Kent family of Fairfax Co, VA and note that William Williams is mentioned as a neighbor in several documents. For example, in the Historic Roads of Virginia, Fairfax County Road Orders, 1749 - 1800 by Beth Mitchell, 2003 a William Williams is listed as early as 17 June 1752. This could make him the father (or other older relative) of your William Williams b.1757. The given name of other Williams during this 1749 - 1800 period include Aler/Ayler, Bazil, Bozwell, George, Edeard, George, Edward, Elijah, Jeremiah, James, John, John Lock, Joseph, Oliver, Own, Thomas, Walter (the first one mentioned) and William.

The book is from Hitoric Roads of Virginia, Virginia Transportation Research Council, 530 Edgemont Rd. Charlottesville, VA 22903. website: virginiadot.org/vtrc/history/roadordr.html.

Hope this is helpful
