After looking at my files this is what I find on Winfield Scott Bicksler:
W. Scott graduated from Iowa City College in law. He married Annette Hampton of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was descended from the Hamptons of Colonial fame. They lived in Denver, Colorado twenty-one years where he practiced law. They removed to Los Angeles, California. There he built a large law practice. He was a member of the Sons of Col. Wars and Annette was a member of the DAR. They had no children. Scott died in 1928 in Los Angeles and is buried there. Annette died in 1955 at the age of 911/2 years. She was a wonderful person, retaining her sense of humor and happy outlook on llife until the end. Miss Reader, her husband's secretary became her companion and lived with her until her death.
So, no children, and no mention of him living in Fall River, South Dakota.
Three things jump out at me to put on my to-do list.
1) I know that I read John Bicksler's will when in Henry County, Iowa doing research, but I am not certain that I made a copy, so I need to get a copy of that will first.
2) Research Winfield Scott more thoroughly. My information of him came from a Bixler researcher from New Jersey who had a typed history of the Bicksler-Bixlers.
3) Research the child of John Bicksler and second wife, Anna Florence who married Albert J. Lee. Why wasn't she left the land since she was the only ancestor of John Bicksler, or do Oliver Ryon or Sarah Butler have a relationship here?
Lots to do.
