Funeral of W. F. Meade
Last rites for William Francis Meade, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stasius Meade, of this city, were held at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon in Wheatleys Chapel, Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia. Mr. Meade was killed by a train in the Acca freight yards at Richmond, Henrico County early Monday morning when he was on his way to Camp Henry Carter Stuart near Richmond to rejoin the Richmond Light Infantry Blues, after a two days’ furlough spent with his parents. The Reverend Dr. S. A. Wallis, of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of Virginia, conducted the services, and a detail of men from the Richmond Light Infantry Blues, in command of Corporal E. R. Richardson, served as pallbearers. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia. The funeral of Henry G. Gooch, who was killed at the same time, took place in Richmond yesterday morning.
