Perhaps you are thinking of Bailey's Crossroads which is in Fairfax County. You can find it on any map, it is where Fairfax, Arlington and Alexandria meet. The Crossroads are the junction of Leesburg Pike (Rte. 7) and Columbia Pike (Rte. 236). It was named after Hachaliah Bailey, a famed circus showman and originator of the traveling menagerie. His family later combined his circus with the Barnum circus and later with the Ringling Bros. You know the rest. Sorry, I don't know anything about the family's genealogy.
