Sandra,
Fairfax Co., VA was formed in 1742, before that it was Prince William Co. Prince William was formed in 1731, before that it was Stafford Co. A Jos Guess and a John Simpson are both on the Census Rent Roll of 1723 in Stafford Co., VA. This would put Jos(eph?) Guess and John Simpson both in the same county of VA in 1723. It looks as though they rented the property where they lived in 1723.
George Washington (1732-1799) inherited the plantation known as Mt. Vernon from his older half brother Lawrence in 1752. Lawrence Washington built Mt. Vernon in 1743, which is located in Fairfax, VA. The original estate was a 5,000 acre tract of land named Little Hunting Plantation. Lawrence inherited part of it in 1743 and renamed it Mt. Vernon.
