Epps/Eppes and Raney/Rainey family connections

I’m trying to determine the connection of the Eppes/Epps family to the Raney/Rainey families of Dinwiddie Co., Virginia. My GG-Grandfather was Daniel Epps Raney he was born about 1798 in Virginia (believed to be near Rocky Run or Butterwood Creeks in Dinwiddie Co. – abt 6 miles West of the town of Dinwiddie). The name Epps continued as a middle name of my Grandfather and an uncle. A source suggested the possibility that a Sarah Eppes married a Roger Raney. A Roger Raney held land on both sides of Rocky Run Creek of Prince George Co. (now Dinwiddie Co.), Virginia on 30Sep1730.

Does anyone have any information on the connections of the Raney and Eppes families, especially prior to 1798 in Dinwiddie Co.?
