Edward Cousins Dean founded "Dean Seafood" after the Civil War, which stayed in business until 1963.His son, John Lee Dean, owned an amusement park named "Ferndale Park", located across the Appomatox River from Matoaca, known today as "Appomatox Riverside Park". John also owned the 1st outdoor motion picture theater in Va. If anyone remembers "Ferndale Park" or "Dean Seafood" please contact me to share info.
