Charlene, do you have any evidence that Samuel Ayers had a brother Thomas Ayers, b. ca. 1735? I have a Wm. Scott, b. 1755 who according to a POA he gave from Wayne Co., KY in 1810 from Wayne Co., KY, was m. to a daughter of Thomas Ayers who d. Patrick Co., VA ca. 1810. This Wm. Scott in his Revolutionary War pension application stated that he was drafted into the VA militia in 1780 while a resident of Cumberland Co., VA. As you can see, I'm trying to make a connection between the Ayers and Scotts in Cumberland Co., VA. Wm. Scott was in SW Virginia by 1785, but I believe he was m. ca. 1780 prob. in Surry Co., NC where Thomas Ayers was also residing at that time. Thomas Ayers was the son of Nathaniel Ayers who d. 1777 Pittsylvania Co., VA.
