WILLIAM & SAMUEL PAYNE - VIRGINIA MILITIA
Posted by: Mary Johnston (ID *****5556) Date: February 28, 2010 at 15:04:51
  of 1015

In December 1779, WILLIAM & SAMUEL PAYNE enlisted as Privates, to serve under CAPTAIN BENJAMIN ROBERTS and MAJOR
GEORGE SLAUGHTER in the VIRGINIA STATE MILITIA from Dec. 1779 until 30 November 1781. WILLIAM & SAMUEL were among
approximately 50 other men from the CULPEPER COUNTY VIRGINIA area included on the Muster Roll.
They would eventually end up going down the Ohio River to the Falls of the Ohio (Louisville, Kentucky). Some remained in Louisville, others returned to Culpeper County,
some were killed, some captured, etc.

I would sincerely appreciate knowing who William & Samuel
Payne are - who they married - their parents - anything !!!
Thank You. Mary Johnston
