Thank you for your help. I do question the mother of John W. Carroll as Margaret. I believe his mother died c1858 and Margaret was the 2nd wife of Lewis Carroll. If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate the information.
In 1850 John was with his parents Lewis and Mary Carroll and in the household of William Hummer or Homer. In 1860, Lewis was with out wife and his latest child was in the home of William Homer. It appears that the 1st wife was the daughter of William Homer or Hummer.
