Hello: I don't know of a cemetery in Clarke called New Mountain Cemetery, and Robert did not have an obituary in the newspaper. There is Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery which was in use at that time, but there is not an extant tombstone there for him or any other Ashby. There are about 200 graves in the cemetery marked with just fieldstones. Providence Chapel Methodist Cemetery & Ebenezer Church of God on the mountain have quite a few Ashby burials, all buried there after 1900. Don't know where else he could be buried. Hope this helps.
