I haven't had much time to research anymore on Squire and Alcinda but some of the info below may help you. In addition, I wouldn't rely on information written by Stuart Brown as he can't or won't VERIFY the information with documents accepted by genealogists.
In the Clarke County, Virginia Museum there are hand written pages by Mildred Collier Berman regarding the Alexander family. This is what she wrote:
Richard Alexander's three children:
James Alexander (this is my line)
Alcinda married Squire Lee 7 Sept 1826 by Thomas Littleton in Frederick County, Virginia.
Susan married William Lee (brother to Squire - I don't know because I haven't proven this).
James married Jane Peyton/Payton 27 Dec 1821. Jane was born in 1799 in Frederick County and died Aug. 1849. Jane's father was born in England. James was born in 1797 and died in 1846.
James and Jane's children:
William Richard Alexander
Elizabeth m. Enoch Tinsman
Nancy m. John Bemusdaffer
James Franklin (my line) b. 1 Feb 1829 m. Lydia Jane Boggess 22 Mar 1849 in Loudoun County, Virginia.
That's the end of what I have from Mildred Berman.
This much I do know for sure:
James Alexander and Jane Peyton's marriage BOND is recorded in the Frederick County Marriage Bonds Book by Joan Hackett and Rebecca Good on Page 148. It says:
"19 Dec 1821 James Alexander & Jane Peyton, daughter of William Peyton, the bondsman"
Their actual marriage is recorded in Frederick County Marriages, 1738-1850 by John Vogt and T. Willian Kethley, Jr. on Page 28. It says:
James & Jane Peyton 27 Dec 1821; min-Thomas Littleton"
I also know that Richard Alexander (James' supposed father) and a William Payton/Peyton were neighbors listed in the 1820 Federal Census in the Front Royal Township of Frederick County, Virginia. Hence why James married the “girl next door.”
I have that Richard Alexander and William Payton/Peyton were both listed in the 1830 Federal Census in the Eastern District of Frederick County, Virginia. However I don't know if they were neighbors at this time since this census is alphabetical. There is also listed a Hathaway and a William Alexander on this census and a Evan Peyton for those looking for those ancestors.
James Franklin Alexander and Lydia Jane Boggess had 21 children. Lydia Jane is buried in Loudoun County, Virginia (my mother has a picture of the tombstone). We don’t know where James Franklin is buried. And no, I’m not going to list all their children. However, one of their daughters, Susan Adelaide Alexander, married Charles Newman Collier and that's the tie to Mildred Collier Berman above.
Another daughter, Sarah Catherine Alexander, was my great grandmother. She was born in 1858 and married William Baxter on 19 Aug 1879. One of their sons, William Jennings Bryan Baxter, was my grandfather.
