Thank you for sharing this with me. The James W. Alexander who married Elizabeth Cabell, I am sure is not the man I am looking for. He was actually the first one I tracked down trying to find my James W. Alexander. This on is James Waddell Alexander and he is the son of Rev. Doctor Archibald Alexander (one time president of Hampden Sydney College and Princeton Theological Seminary professor). James Waddell Alexander was also a Presbyterian minister and at one time was minister of Village Presbyterian Church. I researched him pretty extensively but the dates just didn't match up to my man. He was also married to Elizabeth Cabell who out lived him by 26 years so he couldn't possibly be the one who married Jane Nash in 1843. The second James W. Alexander that you have married to Jane North is my man, however, his wife's name was Jane B. Nash, dau. of James Nash. Her brother was named Abner Nash. The date is the date my great-great grandparents were married.
Archibald D. Alexander was the only other Alexander I have found that was living in Charlotte County at the same time as my James W. Alexander. I don't know that they were related but I feel like they may have been. Archibald Alexander is the cousin of the James Waddell Alexander above. James's grandfather, and Archibald's father were brothers.
Please do share any bits you run across on Alexanders. I hope that at some point one little bit of information will break down my brick wall on that line.
