The Newcomb family of Charlotte County Virginia were a part of the early formation of this county.Their history is very important.
I have seen reference to John Newcomb who married Elizabeth Malcom, being referred to as Thomas Newcomb. Our research including a deed on file at Charlotte Courthouse, shows him to be John. Can anyone clear this up?
I have also seen reference to the fact that he along with 2 brothers , Bowden/Bowling ( who settled in Middlesex County) and and Daniel( who settled in Hampshire County and later moved to Kentucky),set sail from County Durham. Yorkshire, England. It is said that they sailed up the James River and disembarked at Berkley's Landing. It is said that they were the sons of John Newcomb and Mary Bowden of England who did not come to the New World.I would like to document this.
Can someone out there direct me to the documentation?
This family deserves it's rightful place in history. They helped form the country.
