I am afraid I can't answer you about Martha Hannah but instead have a question of my own. My great-great-grandfather was Hezekiah Ford Harvey. He ran a foundry BUT also was an overseer for the widow of George Hannah. I was wondering if you know who this woman would be. My great-great-grandfather's farm was near Reese's Shop in Charlotte County. He had land right on the river and I believe there was a Hannah plantation just North of his place.

According to family legend Mrs. Hannah ran a school in the basement or somewhere on her property for her children or grandchildren and she allowed Hezekiah to send his children there too for an education. I think it was $5 to educate his brood. I am not sure which of his children were schooled there but know that my great-grandmother was one of them. So my guess is it was at least 7 of his children educated there. Do you know anything about this? Was Mrs. Hannah the teacher or did she hire someone?
