Linda,
I was very interested in you posting, though I have no sure information for you at this time.

I have an ancestor J.H. Newcomb (believed to be James Henry Newcomb)who was born in 1830. Could possibly be a much younger sibling, or more likely a cousin or nephew of Clary or her spouse. What really caught my attention though was the "Widow Toombs". Do you have any insight on who that might be. J.H. Newcomb had a daughter Mary W. Newcomb who married a Toombs. These 2 families are apparently intertwined more than once as family or close friends. I assume they lived in the same area in Charlotte Co. My Toombs ancestors lived in Red Oak, Charlotte, VA. I wonder if your Rutledge/Newcombs were nearby?

Dionni
