Charlotte County Court Order Book 4

MaryJean,

Information found in early Order Books is a summary of the days events at court. Some examples of types of information ordered are the recordation of deeds, chancery cases, debt cases, crime cases, granting of licenses, appraising estates, building water grist mills, appointing guardians, and road work requests.

The Charlotte County order books are in excellent condition and can be found at the Charlotte County Courthouse or on microfilm at the Library of Virginia.

Gordie Fears
