Matthew Mockbee was born in 1743 in Prince George Co. MD. He was the son of Brock Mockbee and Rachel Gore. He died in Berkeley, VA in 1811. He married Elizabeth Becraft about 1761 in Prince George Co. MD. He had the following children:

1) Mary Mockbee, b. about 1764
2) Peter Mockbee, b. about 1766
3) William Mockbee, b. about 1768
4) Rebeckah Mockbee, b. about 1770
5) Joshua Mockbee, b. about 1772
