For anyone else interested in these families..I see now my cousin, Lucy V Franklin did marry Toy Eldon Dalton in 1938...here he is in census with his parents and his SSDI.
My other Dalton cousin, Amelia S Reynolds Dalton and R. J. Dalton also had a son named Eldon Dalton but born later, circa 1926. (If anyone knows what became of him please email me).
