Hello Ron !! And thanks for the info on this..I had lost many of my notes and my memory is worthless! I am very happy to know who Warren Spencer's first wife was...I had no idea, although there were WARDs living nearby. Incidentally, while he was still married to his second wife, Mary Tipton, he gained land that was just over the line into Wythe Co Va..and that turned out to be the Warren Spencer place up on Camp Mtn..Poplar Camp area...a home where my grandmother Neva (dau of Sarah Alice Hurst) lived with her husband, Geo. Shelton and where my dad and sibs grew up..that is until the home burned down. Caught fire (possibly set by Sally who was senile then), while Neva went to fetch water from the spring. Was devastating to my dad and his sisters. Anyway...this property was way off the beaten path..I hear it is only gotten to by foot or horse..would like to try to get there one day. Warren got this land from C. W. Hurst in 1890. Hurst, C. W. grants to Warren Spencer & wife (Mary Tipton) on Camp Mt., 28 acres 1/2 min rts 16 April 1890 Deed 19:398 I am entertaining the thought that Warren's name may have been Samuel Warren Richardson Spencer..as I see him sometimes in census, etc as Warren R. Do you know? Thanks again bud, Debbie Notify Administrator about this message?
