Hello, Lucinda! I thank you for the posted information!! I had not had any notation about the death record for George William Padgett in my files and so this is good. The record you listed shows Dora as his mother, but Dora Jeminia Phibbs was actually his second wife. George was buried in the Phibbs Family Cemetery in Fancy Gap, Carroll County in an unmarked grave. George's mother was Nancy Williams McKenzie. George's first wife was Margaret Belle Herd. By the way, I have a Cleopatra Celestia GOAD listed in my files as the wife of James Thomas Padgett. James Thomas Padgett and William Franklin Padgett were brothers. William Franklin Padgett was George William Padgett's father. Cleo would have been the aunt-in-law of George Wm. Padgett. (You probably already know this. <grin>) In particular, I am trying to make contact with a living relative on the Padgett side -- somone who knew Nora Padgett Bowers Hawkins -- for my husband. We would like to hear the family stories or oral history concerning her. Apparently, Nora was close to her brother Whit. We missed making contact with her brother Whitfield Padgett before his death (and Whit's wife, too). Not sure if there is anyone left who even knows anything about Nora!! I think Whit's son Ralph may still be alive, but do not know if he would know anything about his Aunt Nora or not. According to my research, she moved to Norwalk, Ohio, married Thobern Hawkins and later died there. Would you happen to know Ralph or another Padgett who might know any family stories about Nora??
