Nora V. Padgett -- Carroll Co., VA -- born 1892

George William (or Will) Padgett
Margaret (or Maggie) Belle Herd Padgett

Researching his family for my husband, I am looking for information on Nora V. Padgett who was born in Carroll County, Virginia in Oct. 1892 to parents George William (Will) Padgett and Margaret (Maggie) Belle Herd (There are several alternate spellings for Herd.).

Nora had four brothers (John F., Charles H., Jerry C. and Whitfield, who went by Whit) and four sisters (Bertha S., Gertie P., Lillie Mattie and Helen E.).

Nora apparently married George Bowers in 1917, but a couple years later divorced. She had a baby girl who appeared in the 1920 Census (in Grayson County, VA) as Nannie Bowers.

I would like more information on what happened to Nora after 1920. We could not find her in the 1930 Census. She does not appear to have ever remarried. When and where did she die? Where is she buried? I have evidence she was still living in 1941 because of a record showing her brother Whit attended an event with her at that time.

I'd also like to know what happened to her daughter -- Nannie was probably a nickname because I cannot follow her into the 1930 census.

I am hoping some of the living family members may remember Nora and be able to fill in the spaces for us. This part of my husband's family may have been estranged?? We are seeking family history/genealogy and would like to make the connections to my husband's ancestry, no matter what the story. IF there was some kind of estrangement, it's simply past history now.

Therefore, with humble heart, I ask those Padgetts of Carroll and Grayson Counties in Virginia to check their lineage tree for Nora's name. Please share what you know.

Thank you for reading my plea for assistance. I truly hope to find a living relative who can tell us what happened to Nora after 1920... at least someone who can offer her death and burial information.

If you are still reading my message, may God bless you in your genealogical search this fine day! :-)
