Some years ago, Early Webb, then about 95 years old, told me the F. stood for "Fountain." However, I've never seen any records to that effect.
As you may know, the morning Lou Webb was killed, he stopped by Early's father's shop to have a shoe tightened on his horse. At the insistence of Alan Webb (Early's father) Sheriff Webb had borrowed a .32 Colt automatic pistol from Church Alderman. Unfortunately, he was not experienced in the use of an automatic and was unable to get it into action quickly when the gunfight broke out. He died with a toothpick in his mouth and shot twice into the ceiling as he died.
