Can't help you much, but what little I know is; Joseph was born about 1820 (per his death record) and died in Carroll 25FEB1896 of paralysis. The record gives his birthplace as Carroll... an obvious error. The informant of his death was his daughter, Virginia.

I have records of 4 children (James b. abt 1860 was the other boy.)

Ann Eliza (b. abt 1824) survived Joseph and drew a CSA pension in 1909. However, she likely died sometime between then and 1911, because she wasn't listed in the 1911 list.

Although this means Joseph served, I have never found him in any unit lists.

Joseph and family first appeared in Carroll after the war and he, his wife and two daughters were listed in the 1880 census. The boys had either died or moved on.
