I now know that the father of Jim Montgomery was named Henry Montgomery. He had 2 brothers; Albert (1892-1967) & Kelly (1900-1983) and 3 sisters; Hettie, Oria & Brooke. Henry raised his family in Galax Carroll County, VA. He did die in an accident, but it wasn't a minning accident. He was helping dig a well by hand and got sick while in the well. While he was being pulled up in a bucket, he fell out. His back was broken and he died from the fall.

His widow's maiden name was Stella Ruth Bobbitt, who was the daughter of Martin Van Buren Bobbitt and Flora Flinchem Lynch. Henry and Stella's two children were Lillian and James Martin Montgomery. Lillian died at age 10 or 11 and her and her father are both buried in the Bryan Cemetery in Carroll County. I would like to know more about this family, especially the ancestry of Henry Montgomery.

Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Christy
