Hi Caroline Co. researchers,

Can anyone tell me about the children of Pleasant Winston and wife Jane Quarles, both of Caroline Co., VA.?

This Pleasant Winston is said to be the son of Nathaniel Winston (d. BEF 9 Jun 1787 Caroline Co.), who was probably the first of the Quaker Winstons. Pleasantís household was listed in the 1810, 1820, and 1830 Caroline Co. census. Below is an outline of their family based on the census data:

Pleasant       b. 1771-1775
Jane?              b. 1766-1775
son              b. 1795-1800
daughter       b. 1795-1804
son              b. 1801-1810
son              b. 1801-1810
daughter       b. 1805-1810
son              b. 1805-1810

I have seen on the web that one of their children was daughter Mary Quarles Winston, wife of Thomas Mitchell, but I have not learned the basis for this. I am also pursuing the possibility that my wifeís ancestor, Benjamin Y. Winston (b. c1795 VA) and listed with his own family in the 1830 Caroline Co. census, was Pleasantís oldest son.
