Mary, If you are still online, I wanted to mention that this Robt S Coleman is also my ancestor. I once had his correct ancestry back to Robt of Mobjack Bay. The late Sheri Nicol had found an item of proof of the lineage, as we had all been trying to figure it out. Apparently, no one else took note as when I lost the data, none of my cousins could provide it. I can tell you what I know of our Robt S Coleman's children however.
From which child do you descend? I am from his namesake, Robt Jr. There were two Robt S Colemans in VA born near the same year, the other one lived and died in Hanover VA- died 1854.
Our Robert lived and died in Campbell Co VA d 1827. Had 10 children who were still living when he died. Wife was Polly. Children were Minerva, John, Catherine, Martha, Patrick Henry, Robt S., Buford, Louisa, Caroline and Mary. I have lineage for some if you want to email me.
Robert's estate was appraised on 12 Jan 1828 (WB6, p. 12, Campbell Co.)
"Marriages and Deaths from Lynchburg, Virginia Newspapers", 1794-1836. page 167-
COLEMAN, CAPT. Robert S died on 2nd inst. near Lynchburg. Was 47. Left wife and 10 children.
Published in "The Lynchburg VIrginian" on 18 Jan 1827 p.3 column 3.
I do remember his ancestry included one of two Robts and Daniels as well as a John, Thomas or Stephen.
